Today, I had the fortune to work for Austin Monthly Magazine once again. A year ago I made the photo shoot for the January Cover 2010. But this time I had the honor to shoot the February Cover (FYI, February is the best month of the year because I celebrate my birthday).
Hoy tuve la fortuna de volver a trabajar con la revista Austin Monthly, con la cuál hace justo un año realicé la portada de la edición del mes de Enero del 2010, ahora tendré el honor de la portada del mes de Febrero (el mejor mes del año, pues es cuando cumplo años).
The difference between my last cover and this one, is the AM Mag crew, Damian DeMartino (Art Director) and Candice Lawler (Photo Editor). I really thank you guys for thinking of me for this photo shoot. The idea was resolved a few weeks ago when Candice sent me the photo reference, Valentine's Day, shinny day, lovely day...but, Houston, we got a problem...the weather in Austin was horrible; rainy, cloudy, and the forecast didn't look good...however magic happened; the Sun made an appearance by showing us his first ray of light, and with that I could make the shot. Although I had to create my own Sun because the real one wasn't in the right place, and I needed shadows from left to right for the shot.
A diferencia de la portada del mes de Enero, en esta ocasión trabajé con un equipo distinto, Damian DeMartino (Director de Arte) y Candice Lawler (Editora de Fotografía), a los cuáles les agradezco haber pensado en mi para esta sesión. La idea estaba resuelta, hace un par de semanas me hicieron llegar la imagen de referencia la cuál habría que desarrollar, y por ser el mes del día del amor y la amistad tendría que verse como un bello día soleado, el problema es que el clima en la ciudad de Austin no mejoraba, lluvia, frío, y un pronóstico del clima nada alentador, pero al igual que el año pasado, como por arte de magia el clima mejoró, el sol dejó ver unos cuantos rayos solares y con eso fué suficiente para realizar la toma. Cree mi propio sol pues el verdadero sol no estaba en la posición que deseaba y la toma requería sobras de izquierda a derecha de adelante hacia atrás.
Something really cool and useful to have on location was the iPad. I used it like a monitor so Damian and Candice could check the photos previews. Point for Mr. Jobs. Algo que fué verdaderamente útil, fué el uso del iPad como monitor para visualizar las tomas con Damian y Candice, rápido, efectivo, ligero. Checa el post "Es el iPad un juguete costoso o una fantástica herramienta de fotografía? Parte II"
