I have never been in a workshop from a photographer. I have always maintained myself away for personal reasons, but there is always a first time. Yesterday was my first time.
Nunca antes había estado en alguna plática de algún fotógrafo, siempre me he mantenido al margen por razones personales, pero siempre hay una primera vez, y ayer fué esa primera vez.

Raul Touzon, Cuban photographer and award-winning photographer who works for National Geographic, UN, amongothers. He is giving a workshop in Austin this weekend.
Por azares del destino mi amiga Sandra nos invitó a Daniela y a mi a conocer al fotógrafo cubano Raúl Touzon, fotógrafo reconocido internacionalmente y quién trabaja para National Geographic, quién estará impartiendo un workshop en la ciudad de Austin este fin de semana.
In my life, I have meet photographers of many styles, nationalities, shades and I do not hesitate by saying that Raul is the most humble and sensitive out there (and of course, the most successful). He is an extraordinary human being who you can share a talk of two minutes and drink beer (over and over again). His work is impeccable, his philosophy unique and his passion for photography enviable. Raul, my friend, if you ever read this small post, you must know that you are my role model.
En mi vida he conocido a muchos fotógrafos, de muchos estilos, nacionalidades, matices, y no titubeo al decir que Raúl es sin lugar a duda el más sencillo y humilde de todos (sin mencionar el más exitoso de todos ellos), un extraordinario ser humano que en un par de minutos compartes en una plática amena, una cerveza muy fría (y después otra, y otra y otra). Su trabajo es impecable, su filosofía única y su pasión por la fotografía envidiable. Raúl, mi amigo, si algún día lees este pequeño post, tienes que saber que eres mi modelo a seguir.

To shoot in RAW is an excuse to manipulate. Shoot in JPEG.
Photographs don’t need captions. The story has to be told by just looking at the picture.
Background, corners and center. Subject doesn’t matter.
Moment. Light. Subject. Place. These four elements make a photo work.
You will always need a plan.

Tirar en RAW es una excusa para manipular. Yo tiro todo en JPEG.
Las fotografías no necesitan títulos. La historia se cuenta con el simple hecho de mirar la fotografía.
Fondo, bordes y centro. El sujeto no importa.
Momento. Luz. Sujeto. Lugar. Esos cuatro elementos hacen funcionar a la fotografía.
Siempre necesitarás un plan.
